Allston defends himself in an open letter concerning the circumstances and terms of a duel between himself and Dr. Edward Cuthbert. Written in response to a letter or article by Cuthbert published in a newspaper, Allston's letter also includes a copy of a letter to him from J.C. Clarke, a second, describing the arrangements Clarke made for the duel and pointing out errors which Cuthbert made in his contentions.
